Measures of the Teaching Administration for International students in YPC (Revised)

 

In order to improve the teaching management of foreign students and ensure the teaching quality of foreign students, according to the Regulations on the Management of Recruiting and Training International Students issued by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security [No.42, 2017] and the Quality Standards for Higher Education of Foreign Students in China (Trial Implementation) [No.50, 2018]. The management measures for teaching foreign students in Yangzhou Polytechnic College are specially formulated.

I. Teaching Organization

The teaching of foreign students is an important part of the overall teaching. The Academic Affairs Office of YPC organizes teaching activities of for foreign students, and the personnel training programs for various related majors are formulated and implemented under the unified organization of the Academic Affairs Office of the university.

II. Preparation of Personnel Training Programs

1. The training program of Chinese learning in the first year and the public basic courses in all majors are formulated by the School of International Exchange.

2.The training program for professional learning is formulated by each school, and the learning duration is 3 years (or 2 academic years). Each school will submit the completed talent training plan to School of International Exchanges, which will be summarized and submitted to the Academic Affairs Office of YPC.

3. When formulating talent training programs, each school should fully consider the teaching characteristics and teaching requirements of overseas students and formulate targeted training programs. In each professional training program, for classes with a school system of 2 years, the credits of all courses (including graduation design or graduation assessment) shall be at least 80 credits, and the overall control shall be 80-100 credits. For classes with the duration of three years, the minimum credits of all courses (including graduation design or graduation assessment) shall be 100 credits, and the overall control shall be 100-120 credits.

4. When formulating the professional training plan, some professional courses can be deleted and practical courses can be added.

III. Implementation of Training Program

1. Each school shall organize course teaching according to the formulated training plan, and organize overseas students to carry out corresponding graduation design or graduation assessment according to the specified class hours to ensure the quality of education and teaching.

2. School of International Exchange is responsible for organizing and arranging Chinese teaching and public basic courses for overseas students for one year, and organizing overseas students to participate in HSK level examination on time. When students enter the professional learning stage, it arranges language teaching 1-2 times (2-4 class hours) and necessary elective courses every week.

3. Each school is responsible for the arrangement of professional teaching in each grade, carefully organizing the teaching activities in the professional teaching stage (including Internship arrangement), and coordinating and organizing the implementation by itself.

IV. Teaching Management

1. In order to ensure the training quality of international students, each college should arrange professional tutors for overseas students, help them make professional planning, track their professional learning, timely feed back their learning dynamics, and check and fill vacancies.

2. Each school shall select teachers suitable for the teaching of overseas students, serve as teachers of professional courses, carefully organize classroom attendance, and educate students who violate discipline. Each school should try to keep professional tutors and teachers stable.

3. The professional teaching of overseas students can be divided into separate classes or combined with domestic classes according to the number of students, but they need to be tested separately in the examination stage.

4. After the examination, each college will submit the examination results to the teaching management department of the school of international exchange within the time specified by the school. The school of international exchange is responsible for uploading the students' results into the student management system.

V. Student Management

1. In order to ensure that international students can successfully complete their studies, colleges should strictly require students in accordance with the provisions on the management of students in YPC and the Provisions on the management of student status in YPC.

2. School of International Exchanges arranges the head teacher to be responsible for cooperating with each college in the routine management of school discipline, school rules, daily behavior and daily life of overseas students.

VI. Student Enrollment Status Management

School of International Exchanges is responsible for the management, maintenance, score entry, graduation qualification examination and other related matters of international students.

VII. Workload Calculation

The calculation of professional teaching workload of overseas students and the workload of professional tutors shall be separately agreed.
