IV. Training objectives

This talent training program is tailored to international students in China. The “Chinese language + professional skill” training mode aims specifically to cultivate international students’ all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and aesthetic. Students should master the essential theory and professional knowledge of midwifery, obstetrics, gynecology, basic nursing, special nursing and health education. Students should be able to engage in clinical midwifery, clinical nursing and maternal and child health care in hospitals at all levels, maternal and child health care centers, family planning guidance stations, community health service institutions, private medical institutions and other relevant departments.

 

V. Occupational position (s) analysis

Through market survey and analysis, graduates of midwifery major are mainly engaged in clinical midwifery, clinical nursing and maternal and child health care in specialized obstetrics and gynecology hospitals, general hospitals, maternity and child health care hospitals, community health service centers, maternity care centers, family planning institutions and medical and health institutions at all levels.

Course content: This course includes the basic knowledge, basic theory and basic skills of human body morphological structure. After learning this course, students can tell the composition and division of each system of human body, understand that the human body is a unified organic whole; students can describe the position, form and important structure of each major organ, accurately touch the bone and muscle markers commonly used throughout the body, the body surface positioning and main adjacent relationships of important organs, and indicate the names and locations of important blood vessels and nerves on models, specimens and/or living bodies; students can understand and simulate the clinical nursing related examination, operation and positioning methods so as to lay a solid foundation for further study of other nursing professional technical courses.

Course nature: Vocational basic course

Prerequisite course: Normal Human Body Structure

Course content: This course is a functional discipline for nursing students after completing morphology courses such as normal human body structure, as well as an important functional scientific foundation for follow-up subjects such as abnormal human function, pharmacology and clinical courses. After learning this course, students should master the basic theory, basic knowledge and basic experiment skills of the discipline and the laws of normal life activities. Students should focus on the physiological functions which are closely related to clinical nursing work, their processes, principles and the influences both from internal and external environment so as to meet the requirements of the nursing profession.

Course content: This course includes the pathological morphological characteristics of various basic diseases, the general rules of disease occurrence and development and basic pathological knowledge of common diseases. After learning this course, students should master the general law of disease process and understand the clinicopathological relationship of common diseases; students can use pathological knowledge to make logical, scientific and reasonable explanation to and analysis of the occurrence and development of diseases, and put forward preliminary pathological diagnosis; students should be able to use relevant basic medical knowledge and pathological knowledge to explain the pathological changes and outcomes of common diseases, and learn to use pathological knowledge to analyze and understand professional nursing knowledge and skills.

Course content: This course includes an overview of etiology, basic knowledge of immunology, biological pathogenic factors and major diseases, etc. After learning this course, students should understand the etiological characteristics of common diseases and pay attention to the relationship between psychosocial factors and human health and disease; students should be familiar with the types of common psychosomatic diseases; students understand the immunological phenomena, infectious diseases, parasitic diseases, laboratory examination and specific prevention and treatment measures of common diseases in clinical nursing to make simple explanation; with aseptic concept in mind, students should combine knowledge of disinfection, isolation and infection prevention with practical nursing work and have a deepened understanding of the relationship between people, environment, health and disease to lay a foundation for follow-up courses.

Course content: This course includes the overview of the mechanism of drug therapy, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and introduction to commonly used clinical drugs. After learning the course, students should be familiar with the types of commonly used clinical drugs, their efficacy, treatment methods, and common clinical manifestations of adverse drug reactions. Students can learn to apply the basic theory of pharmacology to guide medication nursing, medication precautions and observation of adverse reactions, so as to prevent and reduce the occurrence of drug-induced diseases and medical accidents, and ensure the safety and effectiveness of clinical medication. This course highlights the integration of nurse qualification standards with course objectives, and the integration of national nurse qualification examination syllabus with the teaching syllabus of the course so that the knowledge objectives, ability objectives and quality objectives meet the need of the post.

Course content: The course includes basic methods for health assessment, symptom assessment, medical examination, the human body functional health patterns evaluation, cardiogram, imaging examination, laboratory examination, nursing diagnosis and nursing medical records writing, etc.. It helps students to master the basic theory, knowledge and skills of health assessment, and trains students’ skills in assessing physical, psychological and social health. Students should master the methods of specimen collection for laboratory examination, be able to systematically organize the results of consultation, physical assessment and other examinations and write nursing records that meet the requirements. Students are trained to collect information from physical, psychological and social aspects, conduct comprehensive human-centered evaluation, monitoring and judgment, and to form scientific clinical thinking and decision-making methods to lay a foundation for learning various clinical nursing courses.

With students at the center, the course features a project-oriented curriculum design which integrates knowledge, theory and practice. The work-related learning is a synergy of all common nursing techniques aimed at developing students operational skills, keen observation, analytical and problem-solving abilities to apply nursing techniques to solving patient health problems. Course content: This course includes nursing evaluation, nursing diagnosis, nursing planning and nursing evaluation for patients with common adult diseases. Its main task is to set the nursing concept of “making the patients’ health the priority”. With the guidance of the holistic nursing concept, students can apply the basic knowledge and basic skills of adult nursing in the nursing work for adult patients with common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases in the right procedures in holistic nursing mode. Course content: This course treats maternal care, childbirth and neonatal nursing care as a whole in the life cycle, and promotes and maintains the maternal and child health with the  

“family-centered” philosophy. The course includes common health problems of the maternal and infant in pregnancy, intrapartum and puerperal periods and their physiological, psychological and social characteristics. It aims at enabling students to master the new theories, new knowledge and new skills of obstetric care, to learn about the three changes, i.e. biological-psychological-social changes, of mothers and babies to conduct a comprehensive assessment and implement holistic nursing for them and carry out family planning, healthier bearing and rearing, newborn feeding propaganda and education, so as to meet the requirements of nursing (midwifery) occupation.

Course content: The course includes nursing evaluation, nursing diagnosis, nursing plan and nursing evaluation of patients with common gynecological diseases. The main task is to set the “women’s health-centered” nursing concept. With the guidance of the holistic nursing concept, students can apply basic knowledge and basic skills of gynecological nursing in the nursing work for patients with common gynecological diseases and frequently-occurring gynecological diseases in the right procedures in holistic nursing mode. Students can provide health guidance and health education to individuals, families and communities suited to individual needs with the use of gynecological health care knowledge and interpersonal skills.
